Community Commitment
At Laredo Rehabilitation Hospital, we are committed to being good neighbors and responsible corporate citizens to the communities we serve. We do this through not only the healthcare services we provide, but through our dedication to philanthropic support throughout our community.
In addition, Ernest Health also has dedicated resources to the following throughout all our hospitals:
Salvation Army
Ernest Health is committed to supporting the efforts of the Salvation Army in communities in which we serve. Our employees annually raise funds to support the Salvation Army’s Kidz 2 Kamp program in their respective communities.
The Kids 2 Kamp program allows children from low-income or disadvantaged families the opportunity to attend summer camp. The camp provides a safe place for these children to learn and interact with peers. They develop new skills through programs designed to stimulate their imagination, develop a deeper faith, and improve their self-confidence.
Last year, Ernest Health employees raised more than $25,000 collectively, which allowed 102 children to attend camp.
Disaster Relief
Ernest Health is committed to helping during a natural disaster – treating, rehabilitating and empowering those with disabilities caused by the catastrophic event.
For example, after the earthquake in Haiti in 2010, Ernest Health partnered with Healing Hands to send a clinical team to Haiti to assist with disaster relief. Nurses and therapists worked with earthquake survivors who sustained life-changing injuries. They provided services in a variety of patient care settings such as outpatient therapy clinics, inpatient hospitals, and orphanages for children with disabilities.
The team of 32 volunteers provided care and rehabilitation services, including education, use of adaptive equipment, and manufacture and use of prosthetic limbs to help survivors function as fully as possible
